Gailen Schmidt

New forms and shapes have always appeared in my works. The contemporary
landscape is the artist's perception which is more important than logic as
a plein aire painter.

Gailen was educated at the University of California - Davis, Wiesbaden
School of Art, the University of Maryland, Stephens College and Kansas
State University. She was a teacher of special education programs in
Arkansas and Michigan as well as the editor of an in-house publication.

Her work has been exhibited with the California Watercolor Society, the
"Mother Lode Show", private shows in europe, galleries in Denver, and
Ogden, Utah, and locally in shows in Glenwood Springs, Ouray, Crested
Butte, Montrose, and the Western Colorado Center for the Arts. She was
recently included in the permanent collection at the Western Colorado
Center for the Arts in Grand Junction, Colorado.
