Daphna Russell and her Work
Daphna Russell studied sculpture and art history at William and Mary,
Colorado College and Texas Woman's University. She taught, worked in
museums and in other professional capacities until she came to Delta
County in Western Colorado in 1984. The following year she began sculpting in water based
clay and has since applied herself to the process of making sculpture in
clay, paper, stone and wax for bronze.
Daphna's style is semiabstract and
derives from the essence of the subject be it buffalo, horse, bird, pig,
bear or angel. She places heavy emphasis on the relationship of the formal
elements.
The artist is represented in galleries in Tennessee, Florida,
Arizona, and Colorado. Her works appear in collections in the United
States and Europe.
