Buddy Townsend was born in south Louisiana. His love affair with the Rocky Mountains began as a young boy, as his family crossed the Continental Divide on vacation trips to California. In 1981, Buddy and his wife Wanda moved to Golden, Colorado. They live in beautiful Golden Gate Canyon with their two children, on top of Douglas Mountain. Buddy has been a devoted artist for over 25 years, working with a variety of mediums. The metal sculpturing he now does was completely developed by him. It is totally unique and can be found no where else. Each piece within a piece is handcrafted, hammered, and shaped to achieve a life-like look. He uses no paints, but the colors are beautiful! The colors are achieve with heating and chemicals called patinas. It is the way copper rusts. With the exception of an occasional enamel glaze, the colors are literally "Born of Fire". The different metals {copper/stainless steel and brass} are heated, causing them to oxidize. This oxidation produces the colors. The colors never come out the same. This works to make each piece UNIQUE and SPECIAL!
